I'm having a good week.

I'm having a very good week. Over the weekend, I had three concerts with my choir, all of which were wonderful. And then I started to bake for my fundraisers for my trip to South Africa. I can't wait to go to South Africa. Zohra invited me, and I think it will be super. Absolutely wonderful. South Africa!

I also found a package of giraffe buttons, and I put them away in my drawer. For safe-keeping purposes, you know. I also baked the most wonderful brownies, from scratch, too! I am having a marvelous week. I swear.

I've also had a good week at work. I got this new ginormous desk. It's seriously the hugest power desk I've ever seen. It has drawers on the bottom for files, so I can get rid of the milk crates the files were previously in. I'm so happy. Less clutter!

Here are pictures of my Blythe! (For whom this blog is named.)

So here she is, looking slightly miffed at little Bartholomew for hogging the spotlight, which seems to be what he does best. More pictures of him in the window at the bottom of the post.

In the second picture, she has on this spiffy little outfit I made for her. I think it's kind of cute, just like her.
This last picture of Raspberry is her wearing the dress in the first picture, but you can see it more clearly.

And here are pictures of our new kitten Bartholomew. He is small and soft, and so very tactile, it's like he's an orphan or something. He is constantly seeking reassurance that we love him and are going to feed him. He is not content unless he's touching one of us at all times, and frequently we'll hear him crying out if he's all alone in a room. Jamie seems to like him, he smells him a lot, and he's gotten friendlier since the kitten came, although this may simply be due to jealousy. I don't care. I'm grateful.
And now, pictures of little Bartholomew.

For some reason, this one is my favorite picture of him. He's just so sweet and inquisitive looking. And he is. He's learned how to get everywhere. We have to keep the toilet lid down, or he'll jump in there and drown. He already fell in once before.

His and Jamie's favorite place, oddly enough, is the bathroom. They just like being in there. They go in early in the morning when we wake up, and like as not, they're in there still around 10. At least, they were this morning. God knows what they find to do in there. Jamie used to drink out of the toilet bowl, but he can't since we started closing the lid, and I can't imagine they find anything interesting to talk about. Thankfully they haven't found the singular joy that comes with toilet paper shredding. It's only time, though.
Until later,
Ashlea

A post for Zohra

I am writing this specific post to tell all about my good friend Zohra. She's very funny. And witty. She has lovely headscarves. She's not allowed to touch boys. She has pretty eyes. My mother really likes her.

She's a wonderful person.

There, I did it.

Tonight, I'll post pictures of my Blythe wearing some new clothes!

Okay, here, finally, are pictures of my new knit hat. I've been wearing it for several hours now, and I really love it. It's so adorable.

I've been so sick lately. I don't really know what's wrong with me, but it may be Lyme disease. Really. I just had my blood drawn, to check. I have one of those bullseye things that you get from a tick, and I've been lethargic and weak, so that could explain it. I really hope it isn't Lyme disease, though. That would suck. Quite a lot.

In other things, soon, perhaps later today, I'll upload a photo of myself wearing Gracie. It looks adorable, and it matches my pretty flowered scarf. I'll take a picture of that later, too.

For now, here's a picture of my basket of yarn:

I just found my new favorite television show. I watch two television shows on Wednesday night, and now I found a third. It's called Pushing Daisies, and it's wonderful. It comes on at 8, and then Criminal Minds comes on after it on a different channel, and then, if I'm not too tired, I watch CSI New York. I usually don't, though, because it comes on at 10, by which time I am usually exhausted.

So this show, Pushing Daisies, is so very sweet and delightful. It is very like a Roald Dahl book, even narrated by a grandfatherly British man. The two main characters seem very much like grown up Roald Dahl children, they're so childlike, (but not childish), and the man is so diffident and idiosyncratic, while the woman is charmingly wilful, and able to touch him very deeply, which is something no one else can do. The only thing is, he can't actually touch her. I should explain the plot. This man, he is called The Piemaker, is able to bring a dead person to life with a light touch, but only for a minute, or someone else will die. He can make them go back to being dead with another light touch, but he loves this girl he calls Chuck, and inadvertantly kills the director of the funeral home in which he found her by not kissing her back into being dead. He wants her to be in his life so badly, even if he can't touch her, that he keeps her alive. They knew each other when they were small children, and he accidentally killed her father. It's rather hard to explain, I'm afraid. They were each other's first--and last--kiss. How very wonderful and sweet, don't you think? I do.

I'm in love, I think.

In other news, I've started decreases for the beret, so that's good. I also have a rather bad fever and flu symptoms, and it's all I can do to type straight. I may be having a bit of trouble making sense, I'm afraid. It could be the sinus medication.

I'll stop writing for now, I am watching Mandy Patinkin's last ever episode of Criminal Minds. And he's the reason I started watching it in the first place. I like it for its own merit now, though.

So I took my Blythe, for whom this blog is named, to work recently. I took some pictures of her, and I decided to post some. There were some rather silly ones, like this one of a coworker kissing her:

Also another one of her just looking at me and my computer screen while I make up invoices:

It's rather dark, but I thought it was cute. She's pretty freaky, I'll be the first to admit it, but she's just so darn adorable!

On another note, I am knitting a beret, called Gracie. It's a free pattern which can be found here: http://knitting-up-a-storm.blogspot.com/2007/09/gracie.html

I have only gotten this far:

but then, I've also only been knitting on it for a few hours each night for the past three. So it's actually not that bad. I kind of like it. I hope it doesn't look stupid with my haircut.

I'll probably post a little bit tomorrow, if I don't fall asleep immediately when I get home, which has become a rather alarming pattern for me, I'm afraid.
